Orthodontic Frequently Asked Questions

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics is one of the recognized specialties in dentistry. Your orthodontist is a dentist who has spent several additional years of training beyond his general dental education studying only orthodontics.

Why should I choose and orthodontic specialist for my treatment?

To get the best care possible! Orthodontists have extensive and specialized training that enables them to provide the most effective and efficient treatment.

Why should I choose orthodontic treatment?

The main purpose of orthodontic treatment is to correct problems with “crooked” teeth or improperly positioned jaws. Problems with either can cause cavities and gum problems or lead to unwanted wear of your teeth.

How does orthodontic treatment work?

At your initial appointment your orthodontist will evaluate the necessity for treatment. If orthodontic treatment is recommended your doctor will explain what needs to be corrected and how it will be done. Once treatment with braces has commenced we will need to see you once every four to six weeks for a very short appointment!
